Areas of Practice
Collections:
Our firm is known as one of the most experienced and sophisticated collection law firms in Maine. We have handled thousands of cases, ranging from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our clients include hospital and medical providers, as well as financial institutions, credit unions, contractors, print media, and a multi-state heavy equipment retailer. We know that getting a judgment is only part of the job. Obtaining assets or attaching income to satisfy the judgment is critical. We also recognize the statutory limits on creditors' collection efforts, and therefore can work with debtors to get the maximum amount of recovery possible for clients despite limited income and assets.
We process collections using sophisticated collection software and experienced staff. The software includes a calendaring system to alert our attorney and staff of approaching deadlines and court dates. This software allows for a smooth transition from when the client refers a debt to our office to when funds are actually paid. The software also allows us to efficiently communicate with our clients. We provide clients with a detailed quarterly or monthly remittance and action item report, indicating the status of the debts during that period. We also have the flexibility to create numerous reports, depending upon the needs of the client.
In addition, we understand our obligations as a debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection and Practices Act, and thus we use the utmost of care to maintain confidentiality of both client and debtor records.
Not only can our office help with collection of bad debts, we can successfully foreclose on mortgaged property, and assist with repossessions of secured personal property.
